Helvetia, Oregon
Helvetia is located to the north of the Beaverton and Hillsboro boundaries. It’s technically an unincorporated community, and consists mainly of sprawling multimillion-dollar properties, as well as ranches and farms. Located about 15 minutes west of Portland, this neighborhood was first founded by Swiss immigrants in the 19th century.
This cozy little community is located only a few minutes from the headquarters of both Intel and Nike, making it popular among employees of these companies who wish for a more rural lifestyle that’s still near their place of work.
Notable features of Helvetia are the historic church and its cemetery, Helvetia Vineyards and Winery, and Helvetia Tavern, pictured to the right, which is famous for its “Jumbo Burger’ and hat covered ceiling. Roloff Farms, which is nearby, was also the setting for the TLC TV show Little People, Big World, and has become a tourist attraction around the holidays.
Helvetia is nestled alongside the “Sunset” highway, US 26, which provides easy access to the city of Portland. As it is an unincorporated community, Helvetia does not have its own schools, and it is served by the Hillsboro School District.
